Rakshasa

8/31/2012

Rakshasas are from the Hindu religion. They are shape shifting demons and love to cause chaos. They can change into any human shape or animal shape you can imagine and are supposed to be able to reanimate the recently dead.
The interesting thing is almost every culture in the world has one of these type of demons in their myths

Can Animals Be Ghosts?

8/30/2012

Today's Daily Dose is an answer to a question for a 7 year old. She wants to know if animals can be ghosts. The answer is yes and I would love to back it up for you.

As a pet owner, we all take on the responsibility of a pet. The love we feel for our furry or feathered family member is often made bittersweet when we realize that they are ours until they pass. I lost a dog named Jill a few years ago, and I'm still not over it. As with the death of every family member or friend, I think we carry the loss with us until we too pass. Now, several people have seen Jill since she's been gone. I even woke up one night and swear that I could hear her breathing in the dark. My mom used to watch Jill during the day for me and she came to me about a month after Jill passed and said she was walking through the house and saw Jill sitting by the front door. She was afraid to tell me because she didn't want to upset me.

As a fan of Headless Horseman ghosts, you know that you can't have a ghostly horseman without a ghostly horse to ride. Soldiers on horseback have been seen on every Civil War battlefield in the US. I was investigating a home in Gettysburg and as I came over a slight hill, I heard a horse as clear as day. I told my group to be careful that a horse was left in the pasture. As we cleared the top of the hill, the pasture was empty. I later found out that the area was where the family had buried a favorite horse who had passed years before.
Ghost cats have been witnessed all over the world. As a matter of fact, I have a great cat ghost story that I will talk about in another Daily Dose. Black Dogs have been reported in Europe and the Southern US for hundreds of years.

Even the Bible talks about horses for the Four Horsemen and Angels on horseback during the Apocalypse. I have so many animal ghost stories that I will do more stories on this topic too. I think these type of stories help people too.

I think anything we poor love and time into gets a home on the other side. Evidence seems to back me up and hope guarantees it.

Hurricane Katrina and the Ghosts Left Behind

8/29/2012

7 years ago today, Hurricane Katrina slammed into New Orleans, the results of this disaster are still felt today. As the first responders went through the town tended to the wounded and removing the dead, they did so almost alone. One of America's major cities was a ghost town.
The one thing which was crystal clear, the ghosts of one of the world's most haunted cities, stayed behind and unfortunately, they were joined by the ghosts of the victims.
Several stories came out about National Guardsmen who came to help New Orleans from all over the US. One group was sleeping in a historic building. In the middle of the night, one guard was awaken by an odd sound. Something had taken his gun and was emptying the bullets onto the ground. When he turned on the lights, the bullets were on the floor, his gun was across the room, and he was all alone.

Here is another story that I will reprint in its entirety. It was by Janet Yee, a reporter from CBS 5.

GUARDSMEN SENSE GHOSTLY PRESENCE IN NEW ORLEANS

by Janet Yee

(CBS5) The presence of the supernatural and the influence of voodoo long have been synonymous with New Orleans.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, members of the U.S. military are saying that there's something spooky going on and it's not just images of death and destruction that's haunting them.

By all accounts, the Sophie B. Wright Middle School in New Orleans sits empty and evacuated except for military personnel who have taken over the campus as a staging site for missions around the battered city.

But the men in uniform have the feeling that they're not alone. It prompted a chaplain to utter this directive: "In the name of Jesus Chris, I command you Satan to leave the dark areas of this building."

Said Sgt. Robin Hairston of the California National Guard: "I was in my sleeping bag and I opened by eyes and in the doorway was a little girl," . "It wasn't my imagination."

Hairston wasn't the only one seeing things. Spc. Rosales Leanor had her own close encounter.

"I was using the restroom and I just saw a little shadow," Leanor said, "kind of looming in front of me."

Another member of the Guard unit said that she saw and heard a little girl laughing when she opened a closet that contained cleaning supplies.

At a Baton Rouge marina, boats were strewn like trash, but not a shred of paper could be found. Except for the pages of a Bible, which was found by a soldier. It was open to the Book of Revelations.

At a nearby church, nearly destroyed, another Bible was found, showing the exact same passage from Revelations.

Like the power of nature, there is a power at work in New Orleans that defies explanation."

Loki

8/28/2012

SGDD- The Scandinavian belief that the number 13 signified bad luck sprang from their mythological 12 demigods, who were joined by a 13th demigod, Loki, an evil cruel one, who brought upon humans great misfortune.

What Do Ghosts Eat?

8/27/2012

I was asked this question once and it got me thinking. Do ghosts feed? I believe they do. I think in some locations, so many people come to remember that the ghosts feed off of their emotions. Examples for this type of feeding is castles in Europe, Gettysburg, Museums, etc.
Other ghosts feed off of the fear and negative emotions they create. As we stop fearing them, they fade away. Finally, I think some of them seem to feed off of energy. Examples include our own energy, that's why some of us become so worn out in haunted locations. They can also include our batteries in our cameras or tape recorders. How many times has this happened to you on an investigation? Finally, some ghosts seem to feed on natural energy like water, storms and even earthquakes. Now, what do you think?

Storms and the Paranormal

8/24/2012

How many stories begin with it was a dark and stormy night? There could be a reason for this. It seems like the lightning and electricity created by a storm acts as an amplifier to haunted areas. In fact, some ghosts may be so weak that they need to have this electricity to allow them to show themselves.

Shreveport Municipal Auditorium

The Shreveport Municipal Auditorium is a very historic building. In this building, Elvis, Johnny Cash and Hank Williams got their starts on their paths to musical legends.
Now, it seems like some of this magic has stayed with the building. Reports of shadows moving along its hallways are common. People have recorded voices from empty rooms and cold spots are felt frequently. This site should be a stopping point by any music lover or paranormal investigator.

Hungry Ghost Month

8/20/2012

August is the Hungry Ghost Month in Chinese culture. It is believed that the King of Hell opens the gates and allows the dead to return to wander the earth.
This month is celebrated by making daily offerings to the dead. The living put out rice, meat and fruit. The living make replicas out of paper of items like money, homes, furniture and cars and burn them so that they will pass over to the spirit world and ensure that the dead will have all of the items they need for their upcoming world in the spirit world.
