On Aug 23, 1926, film legend Rudolph Valentino died in Hollywood at the young age of 31. During his life he was a famous Hollywood leading man. This Italian born romantic released his own book of poetry and combined with his exotic looks, he was a force to be reckoned with.
Men idolized him and women wanted him. His death actually sent dozens of women to the hospital with suicide attempts. Some are rumored to have died. Well since his death, he has a new claim to fame. He is one of Hollywood's most sighted ghosts. His home called Falcon's Lair is haunted by his ghost. (They used to have some cool names for homes. Lets name ours too.) This home has been the home of many celebrities and they have all had a run in with his ghost. He also haunts his grave as many of his female fans claim to have seen him there. There is an old prohibition era bar that has been made into apartments named Valentino Place. He haunts here as well.
It was a different time back then. We have celebrities now, but we don't seem to live and die with them. Maybe the love of his fans was so great that something of him stayed behind. Maybe as he fades in our memories, his sightings will die down. Then again, for every lonely woman who believes in love, Valentino remains an icon and probably won't ever be forgotten.
