Due to the transient nature of the clientele in hotels & inns, they are among the most haunted of any buildings.

The most common type of haunting is the "crisis apparition". A crisis apparition is a ghost that appears shortly before or after its body's death. It almost always appears to someone connected to the person, and it seems to be a way of saying "Good-bye".

On this date in 1977, we lost a true legend as Elvis Presley died in Memphis. Anybody who's spent any time with me knows that I am a huge Elvis fan. His music changed Rock history and his impact is still felt around the world. There are Elvis impersonators of every race, color and creed. How many other stars can boast that? Now seeing Elvis is pretty common, but what about his ghost? Is it possible that the King is still keeping watch over his domain?

According to a US News & World Report in March of 1997, they found that 15 million Americans have had a Near Death Experience (NDE), where they were pronounced clinically dead and saw a white light.

Roosevelt shared one of the most famous bigfoot stories of all time in his book The Wilderness Hunter. The story was of a German fur trapper named Bauman and a bigfoot encouner in 1892. I shared his story in an earlier Daily Dose. 
In his book, Roosevelt also shares the story of something that happened a year before the Bauman encounter in 1891. A fur trapper was found ripped apart and partially devoured by "an unknown beast which left enormous human foot tracks in its wake." 

His body was found by fellow fur traders so we can rule out bears or other predators. They would know the tracks a lot better than we could.

In Port Monmouth, NJ, sits the Spy House Museum. This building was a tavern since before the Revolutionary War. The owner and bar tender, would welcome the British and would eavesdrop on their news and plans. He would then get the news back to George Washington. This earned the tavern its name as the Spy House.
Since that time, ghosts of women who cared for injured soldiers as well as people who worked at the tavern have been seen. There are also cold spots and voices reported to be coming from empty rooms.
The building is now owned by the Monmouth County Parks System.

After the 1969 murder of Sharon Tate and four others at 10050 Cielo Dr in Beverly Hills, the house took on a reputation for being haunted. People reported hearing phantom footsteps in the home. There were also cold spots and moans coming from empty rooms. Several guests and residents claimed to have seen Sharon herself or other victims inside the home. 
The home changed hands several times, and the last resident was Trent Reznor who said "There was too much history in that house for me to handle." Its no wonder it was torn down and a new home was built. They even changed the address to 10066 Cielo Dr. 
Even with all of these changes, the ghosts are said to have returned. Witnesses have reported seeing a man later identified as Jay Sebring, one of the Manson murder victims in the home and a home next door.
